First Cultural Routes Academic Workshop

On 9 December 2021, the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR) hosted the 1st Cultural Routes Academic Workshop online.

Organized by the EICR in cooperation with the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies, the Academic Workshop addressed Cultural Routes in relation to digital technologies, how they enhance and develop territories as well as issues and perspectives pertaining to the management and governance of Cultural Routes.

The University Network for Cultural Routes Studies is a network of universities interested in the study of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Network aims to encourage the conduct of research on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe related issues, encourage students to undertake their academic research on Cultural Routes, jointly apply for European Grants with the EICR, participate in the annual programme of activities of the EICR and offer scientific advice where required.

The workshop was attended by more than 20 speakers and experts, representing 18 universities from Europe and beyond. Mr Stefano Dominioni, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes and Director of the EICR, spoke during the opening session. The workshop brought together 265 scholars, researchers, students and other participants from 43 countries to exchange and share their research outcomes in the field of Cultural Routes studies. Three thematic panels with live discussion sessions were the main events of the Workshop.
