On 6, 8, 9 and 10 May four workshops were held in four cities in North Macedonia. The first workshop gathered civil society organisations and attorneys, while the remaining three were organised for regional offices of the Ministry of Justice.
One international and one national consultant developed a tool for the Ministry of Justice for processing of free legal aid applications aimed at ensuring consistency and efficency. They also designed instruments for measuring the quality of legal aid as well as complaint mechanisms for all stakeholders. Each instrument has been underpinned by in-depth consultations with all key players in the system and the legal aid applicants. They are based on putting the most marginalised at the centre of the free legal aid applicants.
