The 19th European Conference of Electoral Administrations will be dedicated to "Artificial Intelligence and Electoral Integrity" and will be held in a hybrid format (Strasbourg and online) on 14 and 15 November 2022, with participation by registration only - before 8 November for in-person participation, respectively before 10 November for online participation.

The event focuses on an innovative theme at the crossroads of digital technologies and better electoral governance, driven by the advent of artificial intelligence systems and their increasing integration into the electoral machinery over the past 15 years as electoral actors have increasingly used digital technologies and big data mainly to analyse the sentiments and opinions of the electorate and thus better shape their electoral campaigns.

The conference aims to assess the impact of the use of artificial intelligence systems in the organisation and conduct of electoral processes as well as on the work of electoral administrations and the lessons to be learned, and proposes the following main sessions:

  • the Council of Europe acquis and the principles at stake
  • AI and fairness in electoral processes
  • the impact of AI on voter participation and choice in relation to data protection
  • AI and harmful content

The European Conferences of Electoral Administrations are a series of annual conferences, organised by the Venice Commission together with the national electoral administrations hosting the conferences, in different European countries.
