What are the key principles of leadership and local democracy, how to enhance trust in local authorities and how to engage citizens in ethical decision-making processes, are only few of the many questions discussed during the workshop “Mayors, leaders for change”, organised in Yerevan (Armenia) on 8-10 December 2015. A group of 21 mayors, all members of the Republican Council of the Communities Association of Armenia (CAA), exchanged views on the practical aspects of their role as mayors and responsibilities. Another aim was to discuss how local democracy concretely works in Armenia and what could be improved. “Current reforms are fully aligned and are based on the recommendations of the Congress”, emphasised Emin Yeritsyan, Head of the Armenian Delegation to the Congress and the President of the CAA.
