On 15 September, the Council of Europe, through the GLACY+ joint project wih the European Union, held a hybrid workshop with the authorities of Panama in view of further harmonising national legislation on cybercrime and electronic evidence with the provisions of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Public Ministry of Panama and brought together members of the National Assembly, representatives of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as law enforcement officers and prosecutors.
During the workshop, participants discussed the findings and recommendations resulting from the analysis conducted by Council of Europe experts on the draft law amending the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedural Code of Panama.
The workshop benefited from contributions by two Chilean prosecutors who shared their country’s recent experience in adopting a new law on cybercrime that now enables criminal justice authorities to prosecute and adjudicate cybercrime cases and engage in effective international cooperation.
The workshop is part of the capacity building support that the Council of Europe is extending to the Parties and Observers to the Convention on Cybercrime.
