Zurück Catalog of anti-rumor activities

The project launched in 2018 aims to generate awareness activities designed to fight rumours and stereotypes about cultural diversity. The goal is to improve the anti-rumour network and through this generate a space for participation in which they carry out intercultural awareness activities.

The anti-rumour catalogue is a list of public awareness and education activities, specially designed to fight rumours and stereotypes about cultural diversity. The activities are offered free of charge to entities, educational centres, municipal councils, services and facilities in Fuenlabrada who wish to work on these issues and improve coexistence and social cohesion. The catalogue is a resource provided and financed by the city council of Fuenlabrada and managed by the SEMI (Municipal Program of Cultural Diversity) of the Department of Social Welfare.

All activities have been designed by the members of the Anti-rumours Network. The format is an innovative, creative and dynamic training based on the experiences of the anti-rumour network. The Network meets once a month to carry out trainings on topics related to anti-racism and building bridges between the different cultures that live in Fuenlabrada.

A festive assembly is held once a year. The event includes activities based on various aspects of interculturality, fighting racist rumours, stereotypes and prejudice about cultural diversity. There are 20 activities classified by type: Gymcana, experiential experience, role-playing games, performance, street activity, bingo, theatre, poetry scenes, audio-visual creation and hip-hop workshop. The activities utilize innovative methodologies.

The catalogue was initially presented during a conference against racial discrimination in March 2018, in which the anti-rumour network participated. The catalogue and the registration form was then uploaded to the City Council's website to facilitate access. A dissemination plan was developed, and more than 600 entities were contacted though a letter from the Department of Social Welfare including access to the catalogue, a triptych, and a gift mat advertising the activities.

Since its implementation, 16 activities have been carried out in 2018, with more than 450 participants. In 2019 there were 16 scheduled activities. The catalogue was also expanded with new activities to cover all audiences.

The evaluation is carried out through three questionnaires addressed to the applicant entity, providing entity and participants, as well as a report from SEMI evaluating the activity. The results have been very satisfactory. A satisfaction scale of 1 to 5 with 5 representing the highest score was used. The overall average rating by the participants on all activities was 4.3. The average evaluations by the applicant centres was 4.6, both for the entities that carried out training, and the assessment they made of the management of the SEMI. The average rating of the entities on their activities was 4.2.
