The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe are subject to regular monitoring and three-year evaluation procedure through independent expert reports and recommendations. This year, 12 certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe will undergo the process of regular evaluation:

2. European Cemeteries Route
3. European Route of Cistercian Abbeys
4. European Route of Historic Thermal Towns
5. Impressionism Routes
6. Phoenicians’ Route
7. Prehistoric Rock Art Trails
8. Réseau Art Nouveau Network
9. Route of Saint Olav Ways
10. Saint Martin of Tours Route
11. Via Charlemagne
12. Via Habsburg

Each year, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme sees a number of cultural route networks applying for certification. In order to be eligible for certification by the Council of Europe, cultural routes must comply with the certification criteria established in CM/Res(2013)67 revising the rules for the award of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe certification.

The call for applications for certification as “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” for the 2021-2022 Evaluation Cycle is now open until 31st July 2021. Cultural Routes networks interested in applying should inform the Secretariat by formal letter in English or French to the attention of Mr. Stefano Dominioni (By email to [email protected] ) no later than Friday 14th May 2021. Upon reception of the letter, the Secretariat will acknowledge receipt of it and provide interested candidates with the 2021-2022 certification form, instructions on how to submit the application and an invitation to a dedicated training seminar and an advisory meeting.
