The Stefano Rodotà Award is granted annually by the Committee of Convention 108 on the occasion of Data Protection Day, 28 January.

The award

The Prize is awarded in honour and memory of the leading Italian law Professor and politician, Stefano Rodotà, who worked throughout his life to promote fundamental rights, particularly for the development and implementation of the right to data protection in Europe, leaving an indelible mark on the framing of European policy in this field.

  • The Stefano Rodotà Award honours innovative and original academic research projects in the field of data protection.
  • The competition is open to students and researchers from members or observers of the Committee of Convention 108.
  • The Jury of the Stefano Rodotà Award is composed of the members of the Bureau of the Committee of Convention 108.
  • Each year, the selected research is unveiled on Data Protection Day, 28 January. The winner has the opportunity to present his/her work at the following plenary session of the Committee of Convention 108.

Big success for the 2023 Stefano Rodotà Award and a very interesting range of applications. The Jury is now examining the applications and the result will be announced on Data Protection Day (28 January 2023).
