17 May: International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

The Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ) is celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on 17 May with a statement which calls for an end to the violence and discrimination faced by LGBTQI people. The date of 17 May was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
