12th European Platform for Youth Centres in the Quality Label network

The annual European Platform for Youth Centres awarded with the Council of Europe Quality Label was organised this year in a hybrid format at the European Youth Centre Budapest, with participants present in person from 11 youth centres and with participants from another 7 youth centres connected online to follow the discussions. Besides all 14 quality labelled youth centres, candidate centres from Finland, Germany, Italy and Portugal were represented in the meeting. 

The thematic focus of this year’s Platform meeting was on sustainable management strategies applied in quality labelled youth centres with the aim of exploring various measures, common approaches and exchanging best practices. Participants of the meeting were also presented the latest initiatives to greening the Council of Europe’s youth sector, including the sustainability work of the two European Youth Centres in Budapest and Strasbourg, and the EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership work on sustainability.

The Platform also addressed the upcoming Youth Democracy Campaign marking the 50th Anniversary of Council of Europe’s youth sector in 2022, and held an exchange with Antje Rothemund, Head of Youth Department, on youth centres’ involvement and contribution to next year’s campaign. The youth centres also discussed the follow up to the European Youth Work Convention in 2021 and exchanged on possible follow up measures to create stronger links between the youth centres’ work and the European Youth Work Agenda.
