Call for participants for conference on evaluation and follow-up to the youth campaign Democracy Here | Democracy Now

The Council of Europe Youth Department organises, under the patronage of the Icelandic presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers,   the Conference on evaluation and follow-up of the Democracy Here | Democracy Now youth campaign between 31 January and 2 February 2023 in the European Youth Centre Strasbourg.

The conference aims take stock of the results of the youth campaign Democracy Here | Democracy Now and to plan the follow-up project in all its aspects together with main stakeholders and partners.

Initiated by the Joint Council on Youth, the youth campaign Democracy Here | Democracy Now aimed to restore the mutual trust between young people and democratic institutions and processes, focusing on three key themes: access to rights, meaningful youth participation and digitalisation. The campaign placed an emphasis on activities to be organised at local and national level and had a democratic approach. Young people, youth civil society and other stakeholders in the youth sector explored the challenges of the democratic system at local and national level, particularly for young people, identified proposals for action and tested interventions. The European Youth Foundation also supported 33 projects, international youth activities and pilot projects, in the framework of the campaign. The Youth Action Week, an activity bringing together 450 youth activists, took place in June 2022 and resulted in a Call for action with 50 priority actions requested by the young participants, which are expected to also inform the work in the follow-up of the campaign.

With the end of the campaign, the project enters a second phase where focus shifts to following-up on the results, achievements and proposals stemming from the campaign. The activities foreseen for 2023 focus on further supporting advancement of youth participation at national and local level, as well as international level, particularly through capacity building activities, awareness raising and empowerment of young people affected by racism and discrimination.

The conference is therefore an important turning point in bringing together campaign actors (national contact points, youth civil society, young activists), as well as stakeholders relevant for the follow-up project in 3-day meeting to share, learn and build together common actions for 2023.

You can read more about the activity, as well as the conditions for participation in the Call for participants.

You can take part in the activity by completing the online application form at https://youthapplications.coe.int by 1 December 2022, 14:00 CET.
