Anna Serner has been the the CEO of the Swedish Film Institute (SFI) since 2011. She has an LLM and has studied film both practically and scientificially. During Anna’s time at the Swedish Film Institute, the Organisation has gone from having semi-private funding to being entirely public funded. The SFI has also subsequently overhauled its funding schemes. Over the past seven years her work on gender equality, and that of the Organisation’s, has been focused and succesful. Since 2011, it can be noted that Swedish films have improved remarkably in terms of quality with many international successes for films supported by the SFI. Awards received include the Palme d’Or and the Grand Prix in Cannes Film Festival, the Lux Prize and two nominations to The Academy Awards, amongst others.
