Via Romea Germanica Certification Ceremony held in Venice

On 18 February the Certification Ceremony of Via Romea Germanica as Cultural Route of the Council of Europe was celebrated in the framework of the international conference “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Italy: a European Heritage.” The Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) awarded the Certification to the via Romea Germanica at the annual governing Board meeting in October 2020. The Certification was handed to Mr Flavio Foietta, president of the Association of via Romea Germanica by the ambassador Julien Vuilleumier, chair of the EPA governing Board.
Starting in Northern Germany, and reaching Rome through Austria and Italy, the Via Romea Germanica retraces the steps of Abbot Albert of Stade as narrated in his diary. It is a bridge between the North and South of Europe that contributes to mutual understanding among its people.
