On the occasion of “Giorno del Ricordo”, the city of Venice coordinates thirty initiatives to remember those who perished in the “Foibe” and the exodus of the Italian population from Istria. The events gather different institutions and associations, including the Venice Committee National Association Venezia Giulia e Dalmazia (ANVGD).
From 3 February to 2 March, part of the activities will also involve the public of the mainland, with events hosted by schools, theaters, cultural centers and museums of the cities of Mestre and Marghera.
The Italian Office of the Council of Europe joins the celebrations with two book presentations: "L’abisso socialista. Memorie di una ex jugoslava" by Gabriella Chmet and "La patria perduta. Vita quotidiana e testimonianze sul Centro raccolta profughi Giuliano Dalmati di Laterina” by Elio Varutti, respectively hosted by the Venice Seat of the Council of Europe on 3 and 24 February.
