On 1 June 2021, the Italian office of the Council of Europe celebrated 10 years of activity. In 2011, the Organization and the City of Venice signed an agreement which opened the door of the city and marked the beginning of initiatives in the areas of culture, cultural and natural heritage, cinema and education. Since 2017, the Venice office has extended its reach to the whole country, through an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On this occasion, the President of the City Council of the Municipality of Venice, Ermelinda Damiano, paid an institutional visit to the offices, in the Procuratie Vecchie in St Mark's Square, where she was welcomed by the Head of office Luisella Pavan-Woolfe.
