The first You(th) Talk event opened the series of 3 thematic webinars organised by the Council of Europe Office in Tirana in partnership with the German Embassy in Tirana and the National Youth Congress, in the framework of the German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (November 2020 – May 2021).

A panel of senior diplomats, experts and civil society representatives discussed with young people about the priorities of the German Chairmanship of the Council of Europe focusing on Albania’s membership benefits, the role of the CoE in facing the current democratic and human rights challenges, in particular related to public health crises as well as in the context of the EU integration agenda.

Distinguished guests shared their experiences and highlighted the important role and contribution of the CoE in supporting the democratic reforms of Albania and protection of human rights, while invited young people to actively contribute in sustaining the CoE values and standards. Representatives of youth parliament, CSOs and education institutions underlined the need for targeted policies and programmes for strengthening democratic competencies and civic participation of young people.
