On 24 October, in Tirana, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Prisons discussed priority reforms of the penitentiary system. Stakeholders examined necessary cooperation in order to implement unresolved issues pertaining to the healthcare of prisoners, the recruitment and qualification of prison personnel as well as the need of an independent inspection and monitoring system.

The round table was conducted in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe  Action “ Enhancing the Protection of Human Rights of Prisoners in Albania” implemented by the Council of Europe.
