As part of the European Union and Council of Europe Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey, the Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgments” in Albania aims to improve the capacity of the judiciary to apply the ECtHR case-law at the national level, as well as to enable legal professionals to effectively apply remedies related to non-enforcement of national judgments.

The Action has supported inter alia the Albanian School of Magistrates to prepare a curriculum on effective remedies for length of proceedings, following the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) methodology and capacitated a pool of trainers to further conduct a cascade of trainings with judges and prosecutors across the country.

It is in this context that, during 7-8 November, a training session is taking place in Shkodra with the view to improve the understanding and capacities of about 30 magistrates with regards to Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights and how to run a due process within reasonable deadline.
