Cascade training of Albanian magistrates on effective remedies for length of proceedings

As part of the European Union and Council of Europe Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey, the Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of the European Court of Human Right judgments” in Albania aims at improving the capacity of the judiciary to apply the Court’s case-law at the national level, as well as at enabling legal professionals to effectively apply remedies related to non-enforcement of national judgments.

The Action has supported inter alia the Albanian School of Magistrates in preparing a curriculum on effective remedies for the length of proceedings, in line with the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) methodology, and capacitated a pool of trainers to further conduct cascade of trainings for judges and prosecutors across the country.

In this context the last training of a cascade of three regional training sessions (Shkodër, Korҫë, Vlorë) was organized in Vlora on 13-14 December 2018 with the view to improving the understanding and capacities of over 20 magistrates to effectively apply the Article 6 of the Convention with specific focus on the reasonable time requirements.

The Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of the European Court of Human Right judgments” is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe Horizontal Facility programme and implemented by the Council of Europe.
