Back Days against discrimination in Kukës and Fier

Days against discrimination in Kukës and Fier

Following the kick-off event in Shkodër on 5 April, the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination, with the support of the joint European Union/Council of Europe project on anti-discrimination, organised Open Days events against discrimination on 11 and 12 April, in Kukës and Fier.

The events are part of a nationwide awareness raising campaign against discrimination. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among the general public on the damages discrimination and exclusion of vulnerable groups inflicts on societies while at the same time informing about the work of the Commissioner.

On 11 April, the Open Day against discrimination was organised in Kukës, where a contest between two high schools of the city was the key event of the Open Day, which aimed at promoting equality and non-discrimination behaviour among young people. The event was interactive and combined the broadcasting of awareness TV spots and reflections from the audience.

On 12 April, the Awareness Campaign against discrimination reached Fier. In the main public park of the city a fun and inclusive atmosphere featured the artistic programme with dance, songs, poetries, pantomimes, all tailored around the theme of peace, tolerance and solidarity.

Awareness messages were delivered in both the events by the representatives of the Council of Europe, the office of the National Commissioner against Discrimination, the Regional Directorates of Education and the office of People's Advocate.
