CEPEJ experts conduct mission to support on judicial statistics in Albania

At the request of the High Judicial Council (HJC), a mission of CEPEJ experts was organised in Tirana on 12-14 February to support the transfer of responsibility for the collection of statistics from the Ministry of Justice to HJC. CEPEJ experts met with main beneficiaries (HJC, Ministry of Justice, High Justice inspector and court chancellors) to assess their needs, while taking into account CEPEJ standards on court administration and case management, examples of good practices from other European countries, IT strategies cyberjustice, as well as CEPEJ methodology related to data collection.

The recommendations that CEPEJ experts will provide are crucial to the HJC, which is currently preparing the standard rules on efficiency of justice and a methodology for data collection, in response to the new legal framework resulting from the justice reform. They will contribute to improve judicial statistics with a sustainable and consistent process to collect and analyse reliable statistics at national and court level.

The activity was organised in the framework of the SEJ III Action - “Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of the justice system in Albania”, which is part of the programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
