On 12 December 2022 the Steering Committee Members evaluated implementation results of two Projects – “Enhancing the Accountability and the Efficiency of the Judicial System and the Professionalism of lawyers in Georgia” and “Supporting the Criminal Justice Reforms - Tackling Criminal Aspects of the Judicial Reforms in Georgia”. Project partners discussed completed activities and highlighted achieved results.

“In general, the Project implementation was smooth, in compliance with the work plan. Close communication was ensured with all national partners, beneficiaries and donors resulted in sustainable achievements as well as proper allocation of recourses. The Council of Europe expertise in the areas covered by the Project was appreciated by our partners and reflected in legislative, regulatory frameworks and practices of the national institutions” – mentioned at the meeting Lilit Daneghian-Bossler, Deputy Head of Cooperation Programmes Division, Implementation of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Co-operation Standards Department.

Partners also talked on future plans and objectives, which will be achieved mostly based on results of activities, implemented during the first phase. Hence, mutual work will be extremely important for project stakeholders to reach long-term and sustainable results.

Till the end of year Projects’ partners will submit their proposals for future cooperation, based on which the coming projects will be developed.

Projects are co-financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG II).
