Workshop on Participatory Gender Audit for Election Administration of Georgia

On 20 June the Council of Europe organised a workshop on Gender Participatory Audit for the Election Administration of Georgia. The workshop was steered by International Labour Organisation accredited facilitators, who presented the main findings and recommendations of the Audit report for the Election Administration of Georgia conducted in their capacity as Council of Europe consultants.

The Gender Audit is based on the methodology developed by International Labour Organisation and included analysis of the international and local legislation as well as the Election Administration documents, interviews with the Election Administration staff, and an internal participatory workshop.

The main objectives of the Audit were to assess the extent of gender mainstreaming in the Election Administration and how the gender equality issues are perceived by the leadership and staff, to define degree of gender issues’ integration in policies and activities of the Election Administration, to document good practices, to identify gaps, and to develop recommendations.

The Election Administration used the workshop as an opportunity to brainstorm on how the findings of the report can be best reflected in its Action Plan for Gender Equality Council and other policy and strategy documents.

The PGA for Election Administration of Georgia was conducted within the frame of Council of Europe project “Reform of the Electoral Practice in Georgia”.
