Workshop on “Freedom of Expression and Audiovisual Services” organised for the staff of the Parliament of Georgia

In cooperation with the Parliament of Georgia the Council of Europe held the workshop on “Freedom of Expression and Audiovisual Services”.

workshop created platform for discussing the requirements of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and relevant case-law. During the meeting the workshop participants analysed the European Union Directive on Audiovisual Media Services (AVMSD), its major requirements and good practices of its national implementation, based on the examples of several European countries.

The hybrid-format event brought together the representatives of various parliamentary Committees, including the Committees of Sector Economy and Economic Policy, European Integration, Culture, Legal Issues, as well as the Secretariat of the Parliament and the Parliamentary Research Centre.

The activity took place in the framework of the Project “Strengthening Media Freedom, Internet Governance and Personal Data Protection in Georgia”, which is funded by the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
