On 6-7 August the Council of Europe experts, conducted a two-day training of trainers on Electoral dispute resolution – domestic and international standards. Staff of the Legal and Audit Departments of the Central Election Commission of Georgia and trainers at the Center for Election Systems Development, Reforms and Training held in-depth and practical discussions aimed at strengthening electoral jurisprudence in order to be better prepared for the upcoming 2020 Parliamentary Elections. In addition to the CoE standards, the expert of International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) contributed to the training by introducing examples from the US case law on electoral dispute resolution.

The overall objective of the training of trainers was to improve the quality of resolving electoral disputes by the Election Administration of Georgia. The training was based on the toolkit developed within the framework of the previous electoral assistance project in cooperation with the Venice Commission. It is planned to train up to 150 commissioners from District Election Commissions all over Georgia.

The training was organised in cooperation with the Central Election Commission of Georgia, jointly with International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) within the framework of the Council of Europe Project ‘Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia’.
