The Council of Europe electoral support Project continues publishing the periodic electoral journal ‘Elections and Democracy’ in co-operation with the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
To provide the general public and electoral stakeholders with transparent information, promote an informed choice of citizens and address the latest developments on electoral processes, the 5th edition of the journal opens the floor for discussions on the following topics: local elections of Georgia, history and latest developments, political parties and representative democracy - the role of political parties in democratization processes, inclusive electoral processes and equal access for persons with disabilities – international standards and domestic practices, electoral reform – incorporated and pending recommendations of international election observation missions, disinformation and electoral campaigns – emerging challenges and ways for their solution. Specific sections of the journal give the opportunity to voters and representatives of civil society to express their views on recent developments related to electoral practices.
The journal is published within the framework of the Council of Europe Project ‘Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia’.
