In October and November with the support of the Council of Europe online meetings were held with school students in Tbilisi and Batumi to raise awareness about diversity through presentations of videos on prejudices, stereotypes and diversity and through online debates afterwards. These meetings were organised in co-operation with the Tolerance and Diversity Institute (TDI).
The students watched two documentary videos featuring religious and ethnic minority representatives and two video stories about persons overcoming prejudices. The videos were produced by TDI with the support of the Council of Europe.

During the online meetings the students were asked to express opinions about: freedom of religion or belief, racism, integration, diversity and the protection against discrimination. They also shared their thoughts on the videos.
In addition to the online discussions with school students, TDI also held an online meeting with the youth of “HYGGE”- Non-profit Youth organisation, working with ethnic minorities living in Georgia. The online meeting focused on the challenges facing ethnic minorities in Georgia. Another online meeting was also organised with the youth from Marneuli which included the presentation of the video about Nilufer Kurbanli. The discussion developed around issues related to freedom of religion or belief, the challenges faced by ethnic minorities in Georgia and the ways of solving the existing problems.
These events were organised in the framework of the “I Choose Equality” campaign run by the co-operation project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
