The Council of Europe Project "Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia" organised a training for the Labour Inspection Service on Child Labour and European Standards. The training enhanced the knowledge, capacity and experience of the Labour Inspection Service staff that should help the participants to inspect child labour in Georgia effectively. 

In training, participants received information about national and international child labour regulations and inspection standards. The training was interactive, where the participants discussed the national regulations' appropriation with European and international standards regarding the child labour. Participants highlighted the challenges in local legislation and exchanged views about the potential solutions. Training identified issues that need the close collaboration of the parties to prevent hazardous child labour and strengthens child rights’ protection in Georgia. 

Monika Smush-Kulesza, - International expert of the Council of Europe, PhD, acting judge and lecturer at Lodz University, and Lela Gvishiani, - national consultant and expert of labour law and social rights led the training. International expert introduced the European and international child labour standards and inspection in detail, while the national consultant discussed the child labour regulations in Georgian legislation. 

The event was organised within the Council of Europe Project "Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia." The Project is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
