Steering Committee Meeting of the Project ‘Enhancing Implementation of Human Rights Practices and Education’ was held in Tbilisi

On March 15 2023, the members of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe Project ‘Enhancing Implementation of Human Rights Practices and Education in Georgia’ held its 2nd meeting in Tbilisi.

Cooperation Programmes Division - Head of Azerbaijan and Georgia Unit, Mr. Mahir Mushteidzada opened the meeting by thanking all partners for their outstanding commitment and involvement in the project and in achieving the planned project results.

After the welcoming words given by Mr. Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, the members of the Steering Committee learned about the progress of the project activities and the changes that it brings to students, legal professionals, and other target audience of the project.

Steering Committee members held fruitful discussions on enhancing the quality of human rights studies at University and National Training Institutions. Members provided valuable advice on the way forward, especially regarding developing a National Strategy for the Execution of the Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and expressed their readiness to continue their close cooperation with the Council of Europe.

Members of the Committee include the representatives from the Parliament, Ministry of Justice, Georgian Bar Association, General Prosecutor’s Office, and Tbilisi State University.
