Managers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and police officers strengthen their knowledge on Article 3 of the European Convention

A group of police officers and managers of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia benefited from a training covering a wide range of topics related to the application of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.  The meeting also focused on the definition and prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment, the positive obligation of the State, Article 3’s correlation with other articles of the Convention and the responsibility of the State to comply with the established international standards on the use of force, and effective investigation.

This activity was organised within the framework of the CoE Project “Juvenile and Adult Detainees Support” (JADES) which is designed to address the issues related to the rights of detained persons and their treatment; crimes committed by/against juveniles; effective remedies against police misconduct and effective investigation of alleged ill-treatment.
