Series of Meetings with Citizens and Free Legal Aid Lawyers in Regions

The Legal Aid Service (LAS) completed the series of meetings between the citizens and free legal aid lawyers in several regions of Georgia. Meetings were organised in 11 municipal centers in Samegrelo and Guria regions to raise awareness about free legal aid.

During the meetings management and staff of the LAS provided information to citizens on available opportunities of free legal assistance and discussed various issues most frequently encountered by the lawyers in legal aid bureaus of the concerned regions. Topics included violence against women and family violence, rights of a child, social assistance and access to social care. Within the framework of the Project, the LAS also organised three moot courts involving free legal aid lawyers in both Samegrelo and Guria regions. As a result of the activity the LAS managed to directly engage 400 individuals.

Activities were organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project entitled “Enhanced Access to Legal Aid Services for Marginalised Population” and implemented in Georgia.
