New manual for Georgian police officers and investigators on psychological and legal aspects of investigations in the juvenile justice system

A new Manual on investigations in the juvenile justice system addressed to police officers and investigators was presented to representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This manual has been designed to improve the treatment of juvenile victims and juvenile offenders during investigations, describes psychological characteristics and specific needs of juvenile victims and offenders in the context of investigations and addresses legal aspects of investigation techniques relevant to juveniles. The manual will be a practical guide for the police officers and investigators who work with juveniles.

This activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Juvenile and Adult Detainees Support” (JADES) which is designed to address the issues related to the rights of detained persons and their treatment; crimes committed by/against juveniles; effective remedies against police misconduct and effective investigation of the alleged ill-treatment.
