Georgian law enforcement agencies discussing best practice of investigation and prosecution of corruption offenses

Representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office, State Security Service, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives of the Civil Service Bureau and High School of Justice attended a two-day training on “Investigation and prosecution of corruption offenses” which took place on 11-12 June in Tbilisi.
The activity aimed at enhancing the skills and understanding of representatives from law enforcement agencies to fight against corruption offenses and other economic crimes in Georgia. Participants analysed investigative techniques and strategy, efficient use of undercover operations, methods of tackling corruption through financial investigation, mechanisms of interagency and international cooperation.
Discussions were followed by the analysis of case studies and exercises exposing them to the practical issues in investigations and prosecution of corruption cases.

The activity was organised within the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance Project “Enhancing the systems of prevention and combating corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing in Georgia” (PGG II-GE), launched in January 2019.
