Council of Europe and the Delegation of the European Union will present results of projects carried out in Georgia in 2015-2018

On Tuesday, 6 November, the Council of Europe and the Delegation of the European Union presented to the media in Tbilisi the results of their joint projects in Georgia.

Eight projects have been carried out in Georgia in 2015-2018, with a total budget of 4.1 million euros, funded by the EU (85%) and Council of Europe (15%). They have assisted the Georgian authorities with the application of the European Convention on Human Rights; civic integration of national minorities; supporting the Georgian Bar Association; improving healthcare in prisons; countering money laundering; promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media; protecting internet freedom, as well as assisting elections. In addition to these country-specific projects, Georgia also participates in 14 regional initiatives.

Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tbilisi, Catalin Gherman, Deputy Head of Cooperation, European Union Delegation to Georgia, Pilar Morales, Head of Programming Department, Council of Europe (Strasbourg), and Nino Baakashvili, Head of the Division of the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia opened the presentation.
