Continuing the series of trainings on fighting discrimination and hate crimes in Georgia

On 17-18 May the Council of Europe organised a two-day training on the fight against discrimination and hate crimes for the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The purpose of the event was to increase the awareness of participants on basic principles of   investigation of crimes committed on discriminatory grounds.

Around 25 participants got familiarised with international and national standards of investigation of hate crimes and bias-motivated crimes, different forms of discrimination, international and regional instruments on investigating prosecuting and sentencing hate crimes.

The event was organised as part of the Council of Europe co-operation project “Fighting Discrimination, Hate Crime and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is conducted with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP) under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia.
