Council of Europe takes part in 3rd UEFA National Pyrotechnics Masterclass

Sport Conventions Division of the Council of Europe participated, last 10-12 April, in Poland, in the third UEFA national masterclass on pyrotechnics.

This event enabled the Council of Europe, UEFA and the European Think Tank on Football Safety and Security experts to deliver a common approach on how to prevent, disrupt and respond to the risks and dangers associated with the use of pyrotechnics in spectator areas inside football stadia and crowded places outside of stadia, based on scientific evidence provided by a recent independent research study co-ordinated by Dr. Tom Smith.

Adrian Dinca, vice-chair of the Standing Committee of the European Convention of Spectator Violence (T-RV) and Paulo Gomes, member of the Sport Conventions Division, were the Council of Europe experts present in this event, which was attended by around 190 national representatives from the public and private sectors.

This masterclass on pyrotechnics will be customised and delivered in other European countries in the coming months.
