Council of Europe participates in 4th UEFA National Pyrotechnics Masterclass

Sport Conventions Division of the Council of Europe participated, last 17-18 April, in Ljubljana (Slovenia), in the fourth consecutive UEFA national masterclass on pyrotechnics.

This event enabled the Council of Europe, UEFA and the European Think Tank on Football Safety and Security experts to show their alignment on how to prevent, disrupt and respond to the risks and dangers associated with the use of pyrotechnics in spectator areas inside football stadia, based on scientific evidence provided by a recent independent research study commissioned by UEFA and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) to Dr. Tom Smith and other experts.

Adrian Dinca, vice-chair of the Standing Committee of the European Convention of Spectator Violence (T-RV) and Paulo Gomes, member of the Sport Conventions Division, were the Council of Europe experts present in this event, which was attended by around 100 national representatives from the Slovenian public and private sectors, as well as representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia.

This masterclass on pyrotechnics will be customised and delivered in other European countries in the coming months.
