Romania ratifies the Convention on safety, security and service in sport

The Council of Europe work to ensure safe and welcoming sporting events is gaining momentum. On 17 February 2020, Ambassador Răzvan Rusu, Permanent Representative of Romania, deposited the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on safety, security and service at sports events, also known as the Saint-Denis Convention.

Romania is the 15th State to become Party to the St Denis Convention (CETS No. 218), which will enter into force in respect of Romania on 1 April 2020.

The Committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of the St Denis Convention will hold its first meeting in April 2020 in Monaco, starting a new era in the promotion of an integrated approach to the organisation of sports events.
