Pre-visit to Czech Republic for the National Football Police Training

The ProS4+ team and their expert carried out a pre-visit to Prague (Czech Republic) on 22-24 September. The purpose of the visit was twofold:

To observe the police preparation and operations as well as their interaction with fan groups in connection with a football match;

To conduct/film interviews with the main stakeholders/actors involved in policing football in the Czech Republic.

On the first day, the team observed a match between AC Sparta Prague and SK Slavia Prague. Interviews took place on the second day, with the first part of the interviews taking place at the Prague Police HQ with the police match commander, spotters, NFIP and members of the Anti-Conflict team who were in charge of the match. The second part of the interviews took place at the stadiums of SK Slavia Prague and AC Sparta Prague. The security managers, and the SLOs of both clubs were interviewed about their match experience as well as about their roles, responsibilities and the main challenges that they face while they carry out their duties.

The materials gathered will be used for developing the training programme and referred to during the training event that will be carried out in January 2020. The aim of this training seminar is to promote the adoption of an integrated approach to safety, security and service at football matches (and other sports events) in the Czech Republic in accordance with the standards set out by the 2016 Council of Europe Saint-Denis Convention (CETS No.218) and the 2015 Recommendation of the Standing Committee.
