Lithuania on the road to ratifying the Saint-Denis Convention

The Secretariat and the Chair of the Committee of the Spectator Violence Convention (T-RV) met on 16 October 2019, in Vilnius, officials from the Ministries of Sport and Interior of Lithuania in order to discuss the state of play on the efforts made by their country with a view to making sports events safer, more secure and more welcoming.

During this meeting, the Vice-Minister of Education, Sport and Science, Ms Kornelija Tiesnesyté, announced the intention of Lithuania to ratify, until the end of this year, the Convention on safety, security and service at football matches and other sports events (STCE n° 218), also known as «Saint-Denis Convention».

Lithuania was among the first States to sign this new Convention, on the occasion of the ceremony of opening for signature, in July 2016, and was the first country to host the training programme on the new Convention and the 2015 Recommendation.
