The Keep Crime Out of Sport Plus Project (KCOOS+) will be organizing its first regional seminar on the South American continent, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, from 12-13 December 2018. The Seminar, co-organised with the Spanish High Council for Sport of the Ministry for Sport, in framework of their Latin American collaboration, will bring together national public and private stakeholders from 11 South American countries, raising awareness of the Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (CETS 215, Macolin Convention), which is open to countries worldwide for ratification. Technical assistance activities will be encouraged and discussed for the coming years. KCOOS+, previously a joint EU-CoE project, is now an international project, running from 2018-2020, financed by countries and international organisations.
Experts of the KCOOS+ seminar include the International Tennis Integrity Unit, the Spanish Football League Association (La Liga), the French Landbased Lottery (Française des Jeux) and the Spanish Ministry for Sport. Interactive sessions will include groupwork, discussions, roundtables and encourage maximum involvement from the 40 participants from 16 countries, representing public authorities, the sport movement and academia.
The Seminar is within the framework of a 5 day “Latin American Seminar on sport integrity: fight against fraud in Sport”, co-organised with the Spanish Ministry for Sport in its co-operation with Latin America. The Seminar is hosted at the Spanish Cooperation Training Centre (AECID) in Bolivia. Other topics that will be presented and discussed include spectator safety, notably the Council of Europe Convention on an integrated approach. The Council of Europe will also take the opportunity to present its new Human Rights in Sports course, launched by the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Division that was prepared together with the Sports Convention division and the EPAS division.
