Greece is the 9th member state to launch a national campaign to fight child sexual abuse in sport. Inspired by the Council of Europe’s Start to Talk initiative (a call for action to public authorities, the sport movement and other stakeholders to fight child sexual abuse), the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports launched its campaign at an online event on 14 January 2021.

Lefteris Avgenakis, Deputy Minister of Sports of Greece, presented the launching of the national campaign. The event also gathered representatives of the Greek Ministries of Justice, Education and Health, the Council of Europe, the Greek Parliament, the Greek police, national Olympic Committees and NGOs, as well as national and international experts on child protection in sports, and athletes.

The launching event is just the starting point of further actions and events on this matter that will take place in Greece in the near future.
