The Council of Europe’s European Committee on Legal Co-operation (CDCJ) is preparing a draft instrument codifying existing international standards relating to conditions of administrative detention of migrants, Consultations on the first draft of this instrument will be open from mid-May until the end of June 2017. An invitation to comment will be posted on the CDCJ’s website. Civil society organisations and key stakeholders will be contacted directly. A hearing with civil society and key stakeholders will take place on 22 and 23 June 2017 in Strasbourg to exchange views on the draft codifying instrument. Participants in this hearing (by invitation only) will be given the opportunity to play an active role in enriching this important instrument, which is expected to be finalised in 2018.
