SRSG Ambassador Tomáš Boček joined many voices on the occasion of the 2nd edition of the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse on 18 November 2016 in a video statement. He called on member states to pay urgent attention to the particular vulnerability of migrant and refugee children.
In the context of its urgent monitoring procedure on “Protecting children affected by the refugee crisis from sexual abuse and exploitation”, during its 16th meeting (23-25 November 2016) the Lanzarote Committee examined in depth a draft report on the issue and decided to finalise it before its 17th meeting (1-3 March 2017) with a view to its adoption then.
