Drug policy experts discussed the negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic on refugees, migrants and IDPs

On 29 October 2020, the Council of Europe´s drug policy experts, the Pompidou Group, held the 2nd ‘’Support Network of Professionals” online working group meeting for professionals working on the field with refugees, migrants and IDPs. The experts of the working group discussed the negative impact of COVID 19 restrictions for this target group with regard to service delivery.

The working group also progressed on the drafting of a Handbook and Guiding Principles on drug related challenges for professionals working with refugees, migrants and IDPS. The principles include inter alia prevention, harm reduction, treatment and social inclusion. The working group also addressed the different needs of women and men as well as children and youth.

The next working group meeting is scheduled on 7 December 2020.
