Round table on child-friendly information and call for contributions

On 29-30 November 2017, in Strasbourg, the Children’s Rights Division is organising a roundtable on child-friendly information for children in migration. Child-friendly information is understood as including any method of communication that is adapted to the age and maturity of the child, given in a language which they can understand and which is gender and culture sensitive.

The roundtable will bring together stakeholders to discuss good and promising practices or examples of communication methods or tools used to inform children in migration about access to their rights and procedures. It will include child participants, a photo exhibition, an exchange with unaccompanied children living in Strasbourg and discussions with experts working with migrant and refugee children throughout the Council of Europe member States. Participants will make recommendations and discuss how to implement the recommendations made by the children.

At the same time, the Council of Europe is looking for written contributions with examples of good or promising practices of methods or tools used to communicate with children in migration in a child-friendly way about access to their rights and procedures. The deadline for contributions has been extended to 20 December 2017. Please send any examples you would like to share to: [email protected]

These activities are part of the Council of Europe Action Plan on protecting refugee and migrant children (2017-2019).
