Committee of Ministers closed cases on family reunification

On 13 November 2019, the Committee of Ministers at their 1360th meeting, closed the group of cases Senigo Longue and Others v. France. These three cases concerned a violation of Article 8 in connection with the authorities´ refusal to issue a visa to children of the applicants (a foreigner residing legally in France in one case and recognized refugees in two cases) for family reunification purposes. This group of cases was closed by the Committee of Ministers following examination of the measures taken by the French authorities in order to put an end to the violations established in the specific cases as well as various general measures aimed at preventing similar violations. The measures adopted include granting of long-term visas to the persons concerned, reducing the processing times, facilitating proof of family ties as well as awareness-raising measures.
