Intercultural Integration Academy in Iceland: towards national-level policy for inclusion

On 25-28 March 2019, an Intercultural Integration Academy was held in Reykjavik, Akureyri and Reyðarfjörður, Iceland. Organised by the Council of Europe’s Intercultural cities programme in partnership with the Icelandic Ministry of Welfare and financial support by UNHCR, the Academy gathered over 150 national and local officials, professionals, activists and academics for exchanges about the way of increasing intercultural competence and building inclusive integration policies in Iceland. Extremely motivated and active participants made a range of proposals for next steps in applying the ICC model in Iceland. An educational film will be produced by the authorities and used as a basis for future training course to spread broadly intercultural competence in the country.
