Back Secretary General addresses European Dialogue on Internet Governance

Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland delivered a keynote speech at the opening of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance conference today in Stockholm. On the second day of the conference, on 15 June, he is participating in a panel on changes in European democracy together with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Carl Bildt, among other speakers.

The EuroDIG brings together some 500 representatives from civil society, business, governments, parliaments and international organisations to discuss the current issues of Internet policy, including freedom of expression online, children and the Internet, intellectual property protection, privacy and security, and the fight against cybercrime.

On the occasion of the EuroDIG, Mr. Jagland is meeting with H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Carl Bildt, and Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission.

From 14 to 15 June, EuroDIG 2012 is hosted by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority and supported by the Council of Europe, the European Broadcasting Union, the Swiss Federal Office of Communication and the European Youth Forum.
