Back OSCE and Council of Europe - pillars of most inspiring peace process in history

Speaking at the annual ministerial conference of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Athens on 2 December, Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland stressed that lasting and sustainable security in Europe can only result from a constant effort to consolidate and expand democracy, human rights and the rule of law on the continent. ''The OSCE, the European Union and the Council of Europe are the three pillars of the most successful and inspiring peace process in history'' he told foreign ministers of the 56 OSCE member states, as well as representatives of 40 international organisations.
